About Word for Word

Word for Word Ministries presents a new method of combining scripture with music. The technique permanently implants scripture into eight brain regions that affect - long term memory, emotion, behavior, language, rhythm, and health.  The effectivness of this invention is authenticated by science, history and testimony and is thoroughly documented in my forthcoming book.

Children and adults retain information easily when it is associated with music. From the 'ABC' song to promotional radio and TV advertisements, effortless learning takes place as songs deposit information soundly (to use a pun) into memory banks in the brain where it becomes deeply integrated.  God, the Creator of all things, gave us this method of incorporating his words first through Moses, Miriam, Joshua and Samuel and then through the psalmists of Israel; most especially shepherd-king David, a man after God’s own heart.

Paul also exhorts us (both in Ephesians and Colossians) to 'speak to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs - singing to the Lord'.  What is the promised result?

We will be filled again and again with the Holy Spirit.
Increasingly the very Word of Christ will live in us.
He will feel so at home in that atomosphere that he will
take up a dwelling place right inside of us!

Incredibly powerful don't you think?  The dynamite power and authority of Christ's Words (that brought the universe into existence) and the mighty anointing power of the Holy Spirit (that inspired the prophets, the scriptures, and empowered Christ to do miracles) are both released in those who sing continuously the Bible!

Singing psalms, in Greek, essentially means singing scriptures. What better place to begin than singing God’s holy written Word back to him? We are asked to meditate daily on scripture to hide and carry his Word in our hearts and to speak or sing the Word over our lives so that we can live righteously, be filled with the Holy Spirit and have amazing success in life. In fact, the Word, by the power of the Holy Spirit, provides everything we need that 'pertains to life and godliness' to become overcomers in this world. God said His Word would never pass away and would never return void.  He said that man does not live by bread alone - rather man lives by every Word that proceeds out of the mouth of God!

The Scripture Memory Project          New in Scope - Method - Technology

The complete text of the Bible set to music in all languages of the world!

Hundreds of powerful topical themes also set to music for memorization!

This amazing and world-changing calling must be accomplished with all integrity and purity and dependence on the Holy Spirit.  Vast amounts of scripture in many languages must be produced to musical score.  Men and women with willing servant hearts must be trained to not only learn the scriptures for themselves but also to become trainers.  Their motives and hearts must be for the glory of Christ and building up of the holy Church.

Follow the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus; guard the truth that has been entrusted to you by the Holy Spirit ... be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus, and what you have heard from me before many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also!"      2 Timothy 2:2.

The end goal is to support all Christian ministries worldwide by arming them with a storehouse wealth of the written word - the 'logos' by which the believer will wield the sword of the Spirit which is the activated and quickened word - the 'rhema' of God!

Let there be Light!   Let there be Singing!

Their voice has gone out to all the earth and their words to the ends of the world!
                                                             Romans 10:18

This is for God's glory and his pleasure, will, and purpose of preparing the final generation Church, (whenever that will be) to "attain to the unity of the faith, and the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ" and become the mighty army, glorious virgin bride, full grown body, and holy temple being ... "sanctified in the truth.  Thy word is truth … that they may be one;  as thou Father art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.”  John 17     Wow!

How will Christ accomplish this? "Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; that he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word! That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish."    Ephesians 5:25-27

Word for Word Ministries Training Seminar

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Col. 3:16-17

All the Word to All the World in Song!   -   To the Glory of God!

In 1990 God gave me an amazing prophetic word (that contained two confirming predictive sign events) about a great revival that will come to the United States if we truly align ourselves with God's will. Millions of people will come to Christ in the next decade in the United States.  Another Great Awakening in the United States!

♦ Other nations are already experiencing unprecedented revival. Fully one-third of all the people in the world now call themselves Christians.

♦ By 2030 there will be twice as many Christians in China as there are people in the United States!

♦ In Indonesia the Church is growing like Jack's proverbial bean stalk, due at least in part, to a 24/7 'prayer tower' movement.  The percentage of Christians in Indonesia was about 2% less than a decade ago.  It is now over 20% and continuing to grow!

All Through History Men have Lauded the Bible

Jesus promised   John 15:7; Matthew 24:35 –

If you abide in me, and my Words abide in you ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you;   Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

Paul extoled   2 Timothy 3:16; Colossians 3:16; Ephesians 3:20-21 –

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness;   Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly; Now to him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power (miracle gospel power dunamis; dynamite) that works in us …

Jerome warned –

Ignorance of the Scriptures is ignorance of Christ.

Isaac Newton declared –

We account the scriptures of God to be the most sublime philosophy. I find more sure marks of authenticity in the Bible than in any profane history whatsoever.

George Washington proclaimed –

It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and Bible.

Abraham Lincoln asserted –

I am busily engaged in the study of the Bible. I believe the Bible is the best gift God has ever given to man. All the good of the Savior of the world is communicated to us through the Book.

Ronald Reagan affirmed –

Of the many influences that have shaped the United States into a distinctive nation and people, none may be said to be more fundamental and enduring than the Bible.

Billy Graham proclaimed –

I am convinced that one of the greatest things we can do is to memorize Scripture.

Dallas Willard wrote –

Bible memorization is absolutely fundamental to spiritual formation. If I had to choose between all the disciplines of the spiritual life, I would choose Bible memorization, because it is a fundamental way of filling our minds with what it needs. This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth. That’s where you need it! How does it get in your mouth? Memorization.

Charles Swindoll encouraged –

I know of no other single practice in the Christian life more rewarding, practically speaking, than memorizing Scripture … No other single exercise pays greater spiritual dividends! Your prayer life will be strengthened. Your witnessing will be sharper and much more effective. Your attitudes and outlook will begin to change. Your mind will become alert and observant. Your confidence and assurance will be enhanced. Your faith will be solidified.

The Word of God – Lost and Found

We have not always enjoyed the free access to the Word of God that we now (at times carelessly) take for granted. The Early Church had the highest regard for the scriptures; during the Middle Ages things deteriorated.  Though the Catholic Church also held a high regard for scripture, access to the Bible became increasingly limited except to the clergy. For hundreds of years the Bible was not accessible to believers in their own language. The Bible was in Latin, and Latin was no longer the vernacular; thus only the highly educated could read (interpret) it.

Things went from horrible to heinous. One of the lowest points in Church history occurred when William Tyndale was burned at the stake for translating the Bible into English.  Seven other people were also burned at the stake in 1517 for the ‘crime’ of teaching their children to say the Lord’s Prayer in English rather than Latin.  Many millions more were martyred for their faith.

Martin Luther (standing on the broad and brave shoulders of Gutenberg, Wycliffe, Jan Hus, and Tyndale) returned us to the primacy of scripture through the Reformation. Today we take for granted our enormous freedom to read (in many versions) our Bibles.  There is absolutely no doubt in our minds that we are justified with God through faith in Jesus Christ – not because of our works.  In Martin Luther’s day those concepts and privileges were earthshaking.

Present Day Truth

The restoration of the Church will continue until Christ returns for his Bride. We are now at a tipping point in Church history. We are at a point of critical mass that reverberates with  potential energy ready to release dynamic power that will shake the world just as dramatically as ‘sola scriptura’ and ‘the just are saved by faith’ did in the Reformation.  How can I make such a bold assertion? I can do so based on God’s own promises about the efficacy and power of the Word.  Later, we will look into God’s Word and discover its explosive world changing power.

Word for Word Ministries (Word for Word) will allow us to do the same thing that was done in the Reformation – only in greater measure.  We are going to release the dunamis power of the Word of God into the minds and hearts of millions of people in a very short time. The good news of Christ – the complete gospel – the whole counsel of God – will be in our minds and hearts.

The word of faith which we preach is near you; in your mouth, and in your heart.
(Romans 10:8)

The Good News

The Reformation was, in large part, about restoring access to the written Word of God.  That access is now well established.  The Bible for many years has been the most widely distributed and frequently purchased book in existence. In fact, 2011 marks the 400th anniversary of the publication of the famous King James Version of the Bible.  What could be a more propitious time for a new emphasis on the Word of God?  The Church will not only be able to read the Word of God – now the Church worldwide will be able to memorize the entire Bible.

We are moving from the ‘horse and buggy’ days of scripture memorization to the supersonic jet era. The Music Memory Bible™ will make it much easier for all Christians to fully obey the biblical commands to meditate on God’s Word continually – day and night.  The promises for meditating on God’s Word are astronomically wonderful.

The Challenge – Houston (New York, Los Angeles, Seattle etc.) we have a problem!

We are all very glad that Bibles are so easily accessible. Most of us have several in our homes.  Nevertheless, despite the availability of the Word of God, research consistently reveals gross biblical illiteracy of professing Christians in the United States.  Only 40% of Christians can name just 4 of the 10 commandments; only 50% can come up with the name of a single author of one of the 4 gospels. If it was not so tragic – it would be funny that 12% of self-identified Christians think Joan of Arc was Noah’s wife.

When it comes to clear and fundamental biblical truths such as the sinless nature of Christ, or the personhood of the Holy Spirit, there is similar ignorance and confusion – about 58% think the Holy Spirit is just a force – not a living being – and 39% think that Jesus probably sinned.

All through history – from the Old Testament prophets to the brave missionaries of today – faithful believers have risked torture and death so that we could treasure God’s Word. As previously mentioned, William Tyndale, often called the Father of the English Bible, was strangled and burned at the stake on October 6, 1536 for translating the Bible into English. We do not honor the sacrifice of Tyndale (and thousands upon thousands of martyrs) when we (through indifference) ignore or disdain God’s Word.  More importantly, we do not honor Christ.

Is the ignorance of biblical truth in America due to a lack of good preaching and teaching? To a (disturbingly) increasing degree we have to answer in the affirmative. Many churches have dropped their Bible memorization programs and their confirmation or catechism classes for youth. Some churches are so ‘numbers-conscious’ they dilute the gospel not wanting to ‘offend’ anyone and reduce attendance. Some churches – indeed whole denominations – have gone ‘off the rails’ into liberalism or New Age heresy – even allowing Buddhist chants (for example) along with their Christian hymns.  Yes, Church - we are in trouble.

Sidebar – Nevertheless, in the midst of apathy, atrophy, agnosticism, atheism and apostasy, there is an amazing resurgence of hunger for God’s Word arising all over the world.  Word for Word is preparing the Word of God set to music so that we will be ready and waiting when millions of young people – on fire for Christ – want to memorize God’s Word.  Everything will be in place in ‘plug and play’ format – user friendly and efficacious.

In the positive, there are thousands of faithful pastors and teachers proclaiming God’s truth every Sunday in churches all across America.  Beyond that there are scores of decent radio and television ministries.  Many thousands of Christian books, periodicals, and DVDs are purchased each year. So why do we still have this biblical ignorance problem?  There are two major reasons: a lost art and a lost value.  The art is the art of memory.   The value is faith.

In ancient times, memory was highly valued – even considered a virtue.  Today our attention- deficit culture can seldom recall the pastor’s Sunday sermon on Monday morning.  We might get the gist of it, but the specifics and important scriptures are gone like water down the shower drain – all we have left of the ‘washing of the water of the Word’ is a wet tub. Word for Word Ministries is changing all that – once and for all.  It is wonderful to receive good biblical teaching from anointed ministries. More importantly, however, we are to have the Word abiding in our innermost being overflowing with rivers of living water - He who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, from within him will flow rivers of living water(John 7:38).

Word for Word will revive the two historic systems of memory that will (a) allow Christians to memorize the entire Bible word-for-word and (b) also have at their mental beck and (re)call a plethora of scientific, historical and other germane information that allows agile witnessing and/or facile defense of the Christian worldview.  Those historic systems are known by many names.  For our purposes, I have designated them: verbal/musical and visual/imaginative.Faith

Doubt has been with us since Eve chatted too long with the snake over the cost of her lunch.  The unbelief curve turned exponentially upward after two ‘Charlys’ (Darwin and Lyell) impacted biology and geology respectively and Julius Wellhausen produced his ‘Documentary’.  If the terms redaction and higher criticism don’t ring a bell don’t worry about it – truth be told – the plants that grew from Wellhausen and evolved from Darwin are all now pretty much shriveled up and dead.

Unfortunately, popular culture always lags behind scientific advance.  There is a noxious residual adherence to ‘science falsely so called’ regarding both the development of life on earth and the development of the Words of Life of scripture.  Mindless perpetuation of fallacious dogma concerning random-chance evolution and the authenticity of the Bible continues to exact a toll on the faith of college-educated youth.  This is a tragedy.  Neo-atheists promote crass misinformation based on these outdated and disproven (in the macro) theories.

Nineteenth-century notions about ancient literacy have been completely refuted by archaeological evidence – while genetics and (honest) anthropology have made the evolution of man from “goo” by random chance mutation to be a theory less tenable than the geocentric universe. After all, the search for a ‘missing link’ has always really been (of necessity) a search for a missing chain – well actually even more than that – missing chains.  There will be more discussion of these issues later in the paper. Comprehensive discussion of all of that, however, must await my book Atheists Don’t Have a Prayer.

Word for Word Ministries – the Remedy

We are poised for a new Great Awakening of faith and the Word in the United States.  Giants notwithstanding, Word for Word will boldly lead willing believers into that Promised Land.  This will be accomplished strategically, systematically, prayerfully and spiritually. Psalm 11:3 asks; If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do? The answer; not so much!

Therefore, a primary mission of Word for Word is to rebuild the foundations of memory and faith– faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17).

Now God's Word can truly "dwell richly" in the heart and mind of every believer.
